Jaipur, the pink city of India is known for its wonderful forts and palaces. Among its various remarkable monuments, City Palace is a historical architectural wonder of Rajasthan by which both the International and domestic tourist get an outstanding holistic experience. this great place covers more than one seventh land of the entire Jaipur city and this wonderful palace was very carefully and scientifically designed and completely combined with the traditional architecture, beautiful gardens and courtyards, decorative art and carved doorways.


History of City Palace:

Within 1727-32 City Palace was built, at this time Sawai Jai Singh II, shifted their capital from Amber to Jaipur. Since 1959, this historic architectural heritage is opened to visitors as a museum.


Udail Pol is the main and also highly decorative entrance of the City Palace for tourists, is also popular as Atish Pol. It is only for the general public. Second grand gateway Tripolia Gate is only used by royal family. The third entrance is Virendra Pol, is very near to the Mubarak Mahal.


Mubarak Mahal:

Mubarak Mahal is the favourable palace of tourist which has a wide reception centre constructed by Maharaja Madho Singh II in the 19th century and it is the finest example of European architecture. It also a museum of textile and the costume used by royal family including Banaras silk sarees , Pashmina shawls , Sanganeri prints .


Sarvato Bhadra:  

The Next attractive architectural structure is Sarvato Bhadra, the palace of Diwan-I-Khas. Actually this is a Hall of Private Audience. In this place the Maharaja meets his ministers, official guests and other important people. In this palace, Visitors can discover two large silver jars, known as Gangajali; each of them 345 kg weight and the height is 5'3″, edge of 14'10″ and a volume of 900 imperial gallons or 4091 litres, these are used in Mughal era for string the sacred water of the river Ganges, called Gangajal.



Diwan-I-Khas is the largest hall for private audience with square courtyard, now it is open at all four sides with gorgeous arches and chandeliers making it a really special place. The hall is a perfect example of traditional Rajput architecture.


Clock Tower:

Clock Tower is the palace where the visitor can find an iconic clock tower which can be observed from a distance from many places in the city.


Sabha Niwas or Diwan-I-Am:

Diwan-I-Am is also a Hall of Audiences that recently serves as an art gallery, exhibiting exclusive handwritten manuscripts, rare paintings, Kashmiri shawls and also carpets.


Chandra Mahal:

Chandra Mahal is a seven-storied construction will leave you simply captivated, as the residence by the royal family The lower two levels have Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum which displaying a distinctive collection of 15th century. The other floors of this building are known as like Sukh Nivas, Chavi Nivas, Shobha Nivas and Mukut Mahal look very magnificent.


Pritam Niwas Chowk:

Pritam Niwas Chowk is also a wide rectangular courtyard between Sarvato Bhadra and Chandra Mahal with four beautiful doorways which symbolize the four seasons. The Peacock Gate is representing autumn, Lotus Gate is representing summer, Green gate represents spring and the Rose Gate representing the winter season.
